2011 highlights

Posted by cheryl on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 12:57 PM
I know. It's been ages. I've been busy :p New job and all! But I feel odd blogging about 2012 without ending 2011 properly, lol. So here you have it - my highlights of 2011, which includes the ups and downs (in random order):

1. Mille crepe

2011 was a year FULL of Mille crepes for me! The first time I tasted it was in January 2011, and I've been eating it since !!! Yummmmy~!

My first Mille crepe at Nadeje, Malacca. Home of Mille crepes!

Food Foundry@Seksyen 17 PJ sempena CL's birthday

A shop at Sg Wang

Mei's homemade sempena my birthday

Nadeje Malacca again, in September

2. Roller-blading!!!

3. Leaving YA :(

Leaving YA was tough, but ...

4. Serving in YP
...joining YP and serving in YP is an immense joy, a thrill to the soul to be used by God to mold these young Christians as they grow in the Lord and in the knowledge of His Word :)

5. Driving the Comm Car (Pajero) as volunteer for START's extra mile race.

Holding the walkie-talkies. Bergaya je, haha.

We, Comm car people, having Nasi Lemak for breakfast after about 9 hours through midnight of not sleeping and just driving and driving and shooting shots, tweeting and media coverage.

It was a cool experience because I was the 'lady driver'. All my passengers were guys! :p Girl power! ;) Haha. Don't anyone make no more lady driver jokes in me presence :p I drove 4 men for 12 hours through midnight so that they could cover the event through their communication devices! :p

6. The arrival of Cooooooooookie monsterrrrrrrrrr!!!!

7. Learning a new craft!
Got myself interested in metal work - making earrings and bracelets from metal and beads. Cool venture :)

My craft space@home

8. YP Mission exposure!

Visiting Logos-Hope and getting to know the land crew, having dinner with them :)

9. New cooking ventures
-Tried cooking some new dishes in 2011:

Pak Cham Kai. Thank God it was successful, that friends whom I've invited over for dinner said it's one of the nicest they've tasted. Thank God :)

Chicken chop with Brown sauce. The hubby loved it

What can be yummier than fries baked in brown sauce and topped with melted cheese? ;)

Baked chocolate banana cake for the first time! And because it was so successful, I baked it again and again about 3 times over after that! Lol

My first attempt at a 'real' cake decoration

Lotsa rum tiramisu! Baked it about 3 times as well, the latest was for YP's BBQ. I cut down on the rum for the YP one, but could still smell the rum and Moses was quite happy that evening! He kept going back for more, and saying (with the Moses face), "This is gooooood!" Me reckons the rum might have been a tad bit too much LOL

Rich chocolate-coated microwave brownies. This isn't the first time I'm baking brownies, but it's the first time I'm trying out the 5-minute microwave brownie recipe, and it was reaaaaallly good!

10. First tastes
Mille crepe wasn't the only thing I tasted for the first time in 2011. Below are the other new 'first tastes' in 2011 :

Red Velvet! Something I've been curious about for ages since I first read about it on Adele's blog. Finally got to taste it :)

Macarons! These crazy expensive little French desserts have become famous. Too bad we didn't realize how famous it would have become or we could have sampled some in Paris itself in 2010. Aah well.

My failed attempt at trying to make Macarons! Lol. Looks like karipap

Nothing can be yummier than bacon! Bacon wrapping straw mushrooms. Without meaning to sound frivolous, it is : To.die.for. :p

11. New games!

Munchkin, Bang and Kakerlakensalat

We're game freaks! Not boring ones like Classic Monopoly (We like Deal though!) and Scrabble but fun, crazy, strategy ones ;)

12. Instagram squish moments

Get out of my way you little Kelisa!

I'm thirsty :p

Wake up! It's late! See, the sun is already shining through!!!

NOOOOOO! The building is falling!

I'm gonna sneeeeeeeze!!!!

13. Cover girl

And finally .... in 2011 ... appearing on the cover of a magazine! :p Wannabe, lol.
